My 2 year old toshiba laptop has dark grey blotches mostly on sides of screen difficult to read
@drain44 start by connecting an external monitor to your laptop. If that displays properly you know that your GPU works properly but the issue may be connected to your LCD. If it does not you have issue with the processor on the motherboard. Blotches on the screen are usually caused by a broken/failed LCD display not a cabling issue. Post some images so we can see what you see.
