Chosen Solution
This machine was given to me and not sure if its worth repairing. The trackpad has pushed itself upwards from the case and the battery will not charge. It does work while connected to the charger and I can use a mouse to navigate. I consider myself a decent hands on person and sure I could repair it myself. Just not sure if it’s worth it.
The battery has swollen to a point where it pushed the trackpad up and broke it. Replace both the battery and the trackpad. MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2010 Battery Replacement
