Hello all, I was recently cleaning my motherboard (820-3476-a) from water damage using isopropyl alcohol and an antistatic brush and damaged a chip. It is completely gone - like can’t even find it. TL;DR: Please identify the grey chip missing in my attached photo (white arrow pointing to missing chip). After hours of research, I ended up with a boardview and schematic, but the schematic is not easily understood and my .BRD file will not open in any programs that were suggested. Now, I found both of these files separately on random forums, but many people had responded an verified that the boardview file worked. So, if somebody can please help. I can send you the schematic and .brd. I just need the chip model number to send to a friend who does micro-soldering. Thanks. Here is the .brd that I’m having trouble with: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxX337h…
@skinnys this answer is not to diagnose your board but just to identify the component. That is L7870 which is a 2.2UH 2A 0.155ohm inductor in a 2512 package. Remember there is a reason why it did blow up. check for short circuits etc. Looks like Mouser.com as well as Digikey.com carry those.
