the phone doesnt show any sign of life, short to ground on every vcc main component, removed pmic but the shorts are still there

Shorts on VCC_MAIN are the worst; you will have to find the faulty component. When there are no visual clues, you have to rely on the history of the device and possibly its last, dying moments of life ;>). The screen turned purple so the problem may be in the LCM driver circuit (Chestnut). Another thing to try is to look at all of the secondary voltages(check the PMIC and PMICRF) to see if one of those is shorted. Also check the stand-alone PMU’s like the CAM LDO, MESA, Strobe & Vibe driver. Sometimes those can cause a cascade effect all the way back to VCC_MAIN via a bypass cap. Unfortunately, there are no shortcuts to find VCC_MAIN shorts.

Did they ever mention that it was dropped in water or has water damage at all? The logic board could be shot also
