Good Day Everyone, So here’s my story: I am swapping out a motherboard in my gaming PC to accommodate more Ram and in the future more graphics cards. I was running 16gb RAM from 2 DDR4-2400 sticks 8gb each and I’m swapping from an mATX motherboard to an ATX just with more RAM installed and nothing else. The MOBO is a Gigibyte z370. My build: Intel core-i5 7500 Gtx 1060 6gb 32 gb ram ddr4 2400 1200 watt psu Z370 motherboard 250gb Samsung SSD I worked and played on this machine (with the old mATX) for a few weeks no problem and when I switched the motherboard today I go to turn it on and it cuts off immediately. I went through checking each component and found nothing wrong with the setup. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Unfortunately motherboards these days do not come with a CMOS speaker, so a motherboard speaker would need to be plugged in to hear the sound. Did you already try the old two sticks of ram to see if it would post? Try doing a CMOS reset which should be explained how to in your motherboard manual.
i thought the z370 is only compatible with 8th gen Intel CPU’s? if it was a z270, they’re compatible with 7th gen Intel CPU’s. You have a 7th gen Intel CPU (i5-7500) so the new motherboards aren’t backwards compatible, everything else will work, you will just need to get a new CPU =), if anything you can use http:www.pcpartpicker.com to help find compatibility in the future.
