Hello, my MacBook Pro sounds like there’s something inside when I shake it, it sounds like a piece is moving, but the rare thing is that the sound only appears when it’s turned on. If I move my computer the the left, the thing goes to the left. If I move it to the right, it goes to the right. Up and down too. It hasn’t fallen. It’s a MacBook Pro 13" Late 2011. Edit: Now it’s happening without shaking the computer, just using it. I think it might be a problem with the fan. Any thoughts? I found this video on the Internet, I think this is what it sounds like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XljOeLd-

Replacing the fan is not difficult. Since you opened the system it’s just a few screws and a connector more. But you’ll need to give us your systems serial number (last four digits) so we can identify which model so we can give you the needed details on how to replace it and the needed part. Sure you could go to the Apple Store as well. As long as it’s a newer model they will fix it as well.

Hi there,

  1. You probably shouldn’t be shaking your MacBook Pro.
  2. It’s a 2011 model and quite old, little parts may have disconnected from general use over 4 years.
  3. It’s most likely the fan. How ever if the laptop does malfunction (software) you should book a Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple Store, as they may just replace it for you. Thanks! Will :)
