Hello guys. I have recieved a Macbook Air A2179
The screen looks like this when it turns on, with light in the crack. Nothing else pops up. My question is - Will it be enough, with an LCD replacement? The cracks are “behind” the front layer, and therefore im thinking only thew LCD is broken. But i have never worked on a Macbook screen before, so i hoped you might be able to help. Any help / suggestions is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Older displays had the LCD panel behind a glass cover glass. Today all of the Retina displays use a laminated cover glass so the LCD screen is bonded to the cover glass. What you are likely seeing is the LCD glass due to the processing of it tends to get brittle so the break can take place within the LCD part and not the cover glass. Often I see the back side glass breaking before the front. In any case its time to replace the screen MacBook Air 13" (Late 2018-Early 2020) Display Assembly and here’s the guide MacBook Air 13" Early 2020 Display Replacement The owner of the system will need to be a bit more careful as sitting something heavy on the system or a good bang is all it takes to kill the display.
