model nr is A1181. The whole edge is cracked chipped and fallen off. My problem, I think is derived from this. My trackpad will register mouse button press if I put pressure anywhere on the upper case (except the other buttons ;) ) be it finger or elbow. Is this because of the missing edge? And where can I buy a upper case with Norwegian keyboard layout?
You can “norwegize” your keyboard by just swapping the required keycaps. Howto video here.
Your top case is most likely the culprit here. I would search on eBay and deal with a reputable vendor. These top cases are a dime a dozen, but the Norwegian version might prove to be an elusive find.
Apple replaces topcases for free on these macbooks. I just replaced mine, almost 4 years after purchase.
If you have chips and sharp edges,along the front edge,take it to a mac store and they will replace it free of charge(it was a design fault,people were cutting their hands on them)they did 2007white macbook with worn out trackpad while i waited (july 2011)and no questions asked.I live in london.
