Chosen Solution

Heyy I bought the new 15" MacBook Pro with touchbar with the new 2nd gen butterfly keyboard. And I like customizing my gear, so I thought I could maybe change the backlight. I know many people have asked this but not on this new keyboard… So my plan was to (if there is available) buy a new set of these keys and try to scratch or take the white foil of from the keycaps, and replace it with another color (probably rainbow colors) but can I take of the keycaps and how do I do??? If someone could help me I would really appreciate that… (I. have found a video from someone doing it on last gen….but I don’t want to take apart my whole laptop…. here’s the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BPVGVmv… ) Thanks- dennis Rodenburg

Wouldn’t recommend doing it yet on this model. If you damage the plastic clip on the back of a key, or the mechanism, it will not clip back into the keyboard properly and will likely fall out (presenting a problem, since there are no keyboards available for this model yet). The quickest way to change the keyboard backlight colour is to put a transparent colour film between the back of the keyboard and the keyboard backlight, so the light itself is a different colour. Either way it will take a lot of time/work to do this and it will be risky, so I would recommend waiting until parts are available, just in case.
