I am working with a MacBook Pro A1502 that shows the Apple Logo, and the progress indicator get about 1/3rd complete then shuts off. I took the back cover off and immediately saw that an IC board under the click-pad but towards the front lip had heavy corrosion. I am trying to identify this part and I need your help! See the pic I added, it clearly shows the part I need help identifying. It’s about one half inch wide by 3.5 inches long and sits directly under the front lip of the touch-pad.
BTW, the Apple Hardware test give back these two Codes: Reference Code: PFM006 (SMC) and PPN001 (Power management.) WHAT THE DEVIL is that thing????? I’d really like a part number if at all possible! Thanks in advance! Glen Update (06/22/2016) How about the codes? Could corrosion on this part cause the codes?
@comstox check the teardown step 18. That is the back of your trackpad :-)
I think you are talking about the latch assembly.
