Just acquired a cobra 29lx am cb , is this easily converted to fm for U.K. Use
The US and EU radios are entirely different radios inside. You might find someone able to add FM (in the uk) to the radio, but for the cost of doing so and the fact it will likely not work on the same channels (frequency wise) as the UK standard. Sell it and get a EU model and you’ll be set :)
AM and FM are two entirely different modes of modulation. The electronic circuits are also very different and there is no way you can do the conversion you want. Besides, FM is usually used in VHF range of frequencies and above. It’s like trying to convert an apple into an orange. Best thing is to do is buy a new receiver; just make sure to specify the frequencies you want to monitor.
