Changed a kit on an iphone 4 three months ago…been fine….now all of a sudden it just says searching for a signal…doesnt recognise me taking sim out or putting it in… Must be somebody clever out there who has the answer :)
this is a date/time error. Join your WLan with the iPhone or manually set the date/time. Remove the sim card and put it back into the phone. Now you can enter the sim-code.
Put another persons SIM card in your slot, wait 2-3 minutes, have someone dial the phone number of the SIM card you placed in your phone, pick up when it rings and let it sit idle for about a minute before hanging up…your phone should recognize that card and then you can remove it. Put your card back into the phone, if your phone doesn’t recognize the card, your SIM card is damaged most likely, call your service provider, they can check it over the phone ;). Mine was a bad SIM card.
i reset my iphone 5c with this same problem.. now i cant activate it.. its still always saying “searching…” any solutions?
my iphone says searching all time even without the sim card _ and if i lock it,its gonna come lot of languages changing on the screen………………plz help me if u know whats going on!!!!

i raed Mark’s answer which has worked for many, but those steps are not working for me, can someone please help, really desperate. Cant understand why its not working for me. What is sim code is it same as sim pin, then i can’t edit that
My wife gave my daughter her iphone and suspected she broke it. Cellular dealers were saying it was a damaged sim reader. The iStore wanted money just to book a techician to look at it. Thanks…. This is a great post that saved me money and fustration!!!!
If this works i Will appreciate, but i have a problem…. I dont find the solution so, i restored my iPhone 5c by iTunes Then, i can’t register my iphone trought wifi way, and iTunes way too. I was investigating and then i put the iPhone in recovery mode, and the process wont complete because an error from itunes. I stay here. If you help me i Will love you forever… (Sorry For my english)

When time and date change toggle airplane mode for 10 seconds if that fails turn phone off and on
