Computer never has given off smoke before or had any issues. Today I attempted to change the keyboard and as I went to put all the parts back in place, I connected the battery and soon after saw smoke. I waited for a few and then did the entire install again thinking that maybe I missed a step. On the second try when I came to the end and the battery was to be Reconnected my screen didn’t turn on. I pluged in the charger since the computer wasn’t turning on and I immediately smelled more smoke. I’d appreciate any help or feedback. Thank you!
Sounds like something is shorting to ground. Where is the smoke coming from? It is common for first time repairers of MacBooks to slightly chip the corner of the LCD cable, so if you have done this, the cable will need to be replaced along with the fuse, the LCD connector and maybe more.
