Because of spontaneous reboots, I tried the AHT online Apple extended diagnostics tool. This gave several different MEM errors. So I started removing each DIMM (each time first removing the battery connector). I couldn’t determine which DIMM was defective, so I started to make a SuperDuper copy before I would reinstall OSX. I rebooted again, so then I reset the SMC (ctrl, shift, option & power-on). From that moment on the MBP is dead, including the adapter is also not lighting up green or orange… I am out of options, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
Just a couple ideas to start with, unplug the Magsafe adapter from mains and let it be for 10 minutes before plugging it back, it’s not much coherent with the previous troubles but no light on magsafe might come from a short. If nothing changes, retry the same but first remove bottom cover and unplug the battery. Given the issue you report it might not make much of a difference, but it’s always good to know which Mac you have, the 17” from 2009 to 2011 includes several models with different boards and typical issues.
