Hi, I got a macbook air mid 2013 a1466 with a broken screen. It’s hard for me to find the parts (only the screen, not the whole screen assembly). Can it be replaced with other macbook air screen which have the same series a1466 only different year?
Nic - Where do you live country and major city nearest to you? Maybe we can aim you to so a closer source for the part Apple used the same screen across the 2013 through 2017 models. Here’s the needed assembly MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) Display Assembly Apple P/N 661-7475 The biggest problem is getting the bare LCD panel to arrive intact! As unlike the full assembly it is very fragile! Here’s the note from one of my part sources: This is an extremely fragile part comprising just the LCD glass panel and controller board. It does not have any metal enclosure or backing sheets and so relies on the original backing within the MacBook Air lid being intact and useable. Because of the difficulty in fitting this part, the risk is entirely with the engineer fitting it. The warranty does not cover accidental damage during fitting.
Yes, in theory it wouldn’t be a problem, in practice removing the panel from the frame without damaging it is a very challenging task as it’s glued in place. I wouldn’t recommend at all to go that road if you asked me.
