Macbook Pro retina 15 mid 2012 Simply put I spilled coffee (with cream and sugar) on the right upper half of my laptop while juggling a newborn and toddler and trying to work. I immediately wiped up the laptop and flipped upside down for several hours. When I came back to it I realized I never turned it off it was just in sleep mode when I spilled the coffee. The laptop was functioning fine until I went to turn it off. The power button wouldn’t respond, I then stupidly turned the laptop off thru screen prompts instead. Now the laptop obviously won’t turn back on. It charges just fine but my power button still won’t respond. Does this mean my logic board is fried? Do I need a new keyboard?
You have shorted out the keyboard and it will need to be replaced. 50% of the time the liquid does not get through to the logic board. Open it up and examine the logic board for any sign that liquid did get through. Here’s the guide to get to it: MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2012 Upper Case Assembly Replacement
