So I restarted my MacBook after an OS update like it said to. After a waiting bar upon start up it goes directly to a white screen with a white diagonal circle. I get the same issue after multiple restarts. I haven’t had any issues with my MacBook up until this point. I think it had something to do with this current update. Any help is greatly appreciated.
First make sure you have the internal drive selected as your boot drive. Boot up under an external drive and then open the system prefs ‘Startup Drive’ and make sure the internal is selected and restart the system without the external. Hopefully that solves it. If that doesn’t solve it, it sounds like your HD or HD SATA cable is having problems. This systems SATA port is only SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) so you may need to review your drives spec sheet if its not the original drive that came with your system. Make sure it lists SATA II, if not you’ll need to get a different drive. You may want to replace the cable as the older ones did have problems.
