I have a OontZ Angle 3 the charging port is broken where do I go to replace it and can I replace it myself
Hi @royalsmoker69 , If the charging port is loose or broken, you’ll need SMD (surface mounted device) soldering skills and tools to effect the repair, as the micro USB connector is mounted directly onto the motherboard. Here’s a link to the ifixit OontZ Angle 3 Motherboard Replacement guide, which should help to gain access to the connector. Here’s an image showing the connector on the board
(click on image to enlarge for better viewing) If the connector is just loose from the board it can be resoldered back on again. If the connector is damaged and needs to be replaced you will have to find the correct replacement to fit the motherboard, as not all micro USB connectors have the same configuration as to their mounting lugs etc. Check on places such as Ebay, Mouser.com, Element14, etc for replacement connectors. Search for micro USB type B female socket to find one which has the same configuration as the one installed at present. If the repair seems too daunting a task, take your speaker to a reputable, professional electronics or mobile phone repair service and get a quote for the repair.
All you really have to do is solder the pins from the connector back onto the board. The original solders were weak.
