Hi I have a problem with a new battery from eBay, that i put in a MacBook i just bought. Before I return it I want to check on this forum if there is anything I am missing. Status is:

  • Can not run without power chord
  • Battery percentage stuck at 97%, no discharge/charge
  • Condition: replace now
  • Says battery is charged, though light on chord is red Battery info:

Can´t figure if its the battery or if its a possibility being a hardware issue. I just acquired it, and haven´t seen it function normally with a battery, as the previous one had the same behaviour, only it said 0% instead. Has anyone heard of this? Thanks in advance

Try an SMC reset and NVRAM reset. If this doesn’t work, you most likely have a bad battery. Order another battery and try it out. If it is still doing this, it will be an issue with the battery sensing circuit, although I have not come across one which will cause it to say “replace now” if it is a good battery.
