Changed the battery on my wife’s 6s (iFixit kit), and now she has “no service” message and can’t make or receive calls. Took phone to Target (where we bought the phones and set up our Consumer Cellular accounts, and Best Buy for a “geek support” visit, and both places told us you can’t replace the batteries in 6s phones, or you will lose service, and it can’t be reset. They both suggested getting new SE phones, that we need 5G, not 4g devices, as service providers (T-Mobile, our carrier) are no longer supplying signals to 3G or 4G devices like the iPhone 6s. I’m very frustrated, and trying to get an appointment at our local Apple store, for a Genius Bar appointment. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

As a former Geek I’m rather enraged that geek Squad would say this. I can’t tell you how many iPhone 6S batteries I changed during my years there. Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds (I survived the year 2018 somehow). Anyhow. The cellular antenna is very close to the battery connector on the 6S, I wonder if it accidentally got disconnected when you disconnected the battery.

maybe find someone who can copy or give your new battery a new flash, like Alisha said, i have never seen a lost service after battery replacement on any iphone
