Chosen Solution
I changed the screen on an iPhone 5s and now I am having dark pictures and the app is glitchy and stops taking photos when flash is turned on. Front camera works fine. Could this be a poorly seated cable? Or something else entirely? Thank you all for your time in advance. I appreciate it.
Turned out to be poorly seated connection of nearby rear camera cable. Thank you Ethan!
