Hi I recently changed an iPhone 5S battery and now the device will turn off at random times between 30% & 70%, and not come back on until the device is plugged into a charger. The device then turns back on at whatever percentage it went off at, continues to operate for a bit then goes off again. If I plug the phone into my Mac and look in coconut battery it has 3 cycles and the health jumps between 84% and 98%, giving a different reading every time I plug it in. Can anyone advise what the problem could be?
You will want to check the components near the battery connector. If FL11 is knocked off (see the one highlighted in yellow in the picture below), then that cuts the communication between the battery and the CPU. This is a common issue on DIY battery repairs.
If that looks good, I would suspect a bad battery…there are quite a few flooding the market since the iPhone Throttling issue hit the news cycle late last year.
