Hello, i have broken the Front Glass from my iMac. Not the LCD. The LCD is ok. Can i change only the Glas? It is possible to take off the LCD from the old Glas and make it on the new Glas? And where can i buy the Glas? Thank you very much.
Hans, I do not share the opinion on the ability to replace the glass by a DIY’er with my colleague. “To save space and eliminate the gap between the glass and the pixels, Apple opted to fuse the front glass and the LCD. This means that if you want to replace one, you’ll have to replace both.” and “cutting open the display destroys the foam adhesive securing it shut. Putting things back together will require peeling off and replacing all of the original adhesive, which will be a major pain for repairers.” So is it possible? Certainly by people that have the right equipment and plenty of experience. If the ifixit team with all their resources and experiences in teardown have problems with this, I am convinced that the occasional fixer will have great trouble doing it. Just because the part is available does not mean that it is a task we can do. I’d suggest to replace the complete assembly. Part number for the assembly is 661-7109
