How do I set up outgoing message?

Harvey, try this first since I do not know the exact model of your phone. This is somewhat generic :" Set up the answering machine that came with your Vtech 5.8 phone. To activate your voice mail, press the “Answer on/off” button at the base of the main cordless phone. Press “Setup” and then use the arrows to set the number of rings before the answering machine picks up. Press the “Announce” key on your Vtech 5.8 main phone base to listen to the greeting that people hear when they call you. Press “Record” to record a new greeting and then press “Announce” to listen to the greeting. From here. You can also get more specific user instructions by downloading the manual from here. Hope this helps, good luck.

Hi @ Gary Burgess, Here’s how to record your personal outgoing message on the answer machine for a Vtech CLS17250. This is taken from the user manual

(click on image to enlarge for better viewing) fyi your model is not a Vtech 5.8 model variant as it operates in the 1.88-1.9GHz range

Hi @Martha Haynes, According to the Vtech CS6919-2 owner manual, it does not have an answer machine connected with the phone. The manual only describes how to access and use the voicemail service, (see p.23 of the manual) which a feature provided by your landline phone service provider and not by the phone. Be aware that the voicemail service may be a subscription service - it depends on the provider you have. Some provide voicemail for free on a landline phone service, whilst others charge for the service. Check your provider’s website for how to setup the voicemail facility on your phone service.

Hi @Iris Duffy Is your phone a Vtech CS6429 as there is no information about a Vtech CS5429? Also are you asking about Voicemail, as the phone cannot receive/send emails? You need to either contact your landline phone service provider about how to setup Voicemail for the phone service or go to their website and search for the information there. Once the Voicemail facility has been set up on your phone service, the phone will display a signal sent by the phone service provider when there are Voicemail messages available in the Voicemail inbox that you can then retrieve and listen to. Here’s the owner manual for the phone. Go to p.15 to see information about the voicemail in the phone.
