Chosen Solution
After a lot of work finally got HS installed on my MBP 17” Early 2011 and it’s working smooth as of now. So I started migration assistant and after hitting continue button and it started the activity it NOW shows me “7 hours and 34 minutes remaining” which is way too long for me. Can I cancel in the middle? Would it cause any conflicts? Update (11/26/2017) Oh by the way I am transferring from old HDD to SSD using migration assistant and connected by SATA to USB cable so transfer speed is approx 22 MB/s (Megabytes)
You did manage to use the slowest interface here ;-} USB2 and you appear to have a lot of stuff too. Yes, you can stop migration assistant if you must. It of course will not have copied over what if failed to do so and will leave some fragments as well. If you can locate a FireWire or Thunderbolt HD case to house your old drive so you can redo the migration using a much faster interface.
