I recently tried to do a mini jumper fix on an iphone 7 plus Logic board. This was to fix the slow boot and audio problems that the 7 plus is renowned for having. I had a lot o trouble removing the old chip and subsequently damaged it. I also pulled a bunch of pads off the board. I see plenty of posts about changing the home button and that the itouch won’t work anymoe. What I need to know is that if I purchase another leaderboard, can I still use the original home button as a button without using touch ID?
You won’t be able to use at all the original home button on an iPhone 7 unless the board you’re buying will be supplied with its original home button. What you can find in the market now are bluetooth buttons that can be installed with a small mod and then paired with the bluetooth assistant. I bought a couple to try out and the first I installed broke in no time with the top glass part partly detached from the button housing..opened it up and saw the build is pretty primitive and unreliable. I managed to fix it with a tiny bit of biadhesive but it took extra time and work and the clicking is a bit stiffer now. That’s all I can report about it..it works but the making should be improved. Clever idea though :)
You have to use the home button that comes with new logic board. You can’t exchange home buttons. That’s you can’t use the home button from the old logic on the new one
