I am currently replacing the screen and lcd on a HTC HD2 and will put up a guide with pictures as soon as possible. However if you have a questions in the meantime email me on cwconline@hotmail.com
On the internet I found this manual.( see the link) Be carefull when you are to the step foulding the screen and phone open, I broke the “AP board”. That is the board (thin foil) under the 3 buttons below the screen. I bought the screen in China, 40 dollar but this is ONLY the glass and you still have to split the glass from the several capacitive and touch layers. This part is not described in the manual. I am searching for the AP board and the way how to replace only the glass. Do you have a AP board for sale? Good luck Walter Jansen. Amsterdam Holland walterja@telfort.nl www.crunchgear.com/2010/03/02/official-htc-step-by-step-video-for-disassembling-the-htc-hd2/ Update Hello CWC. Can you help me with the AP board ?( small print foil under the 3 buttons. Thanks, best regards, Walter Jansen Update I clicked on the logo but cannot find the guide, is this for the HTC HD2 or for Iphone and other HTC type ( than I have found the guides). Can you tell me if you have a the printfoil for the 3 buttons on the front for me? Is there someone that can repair my HTC HD2 for me? I have a broken glass, bought a new glass but have difficulties assembling the touch screen layers. Thanks, Walterja
I replaced the Glass on an HTC HD2 today. It was painful but doable. As soon as I get another one to replace I will make a very detailed guide on how to repair and replace the glass and other parts. If anyone has an HD2 with a broken glass they are willing to ship to me, I can repair it (provided the part or cost of part) and can make a guide as well. Note: When ordering the part you need to be sure you order the digitizer compatible with the T-Mobile version.
I unsuccessfully replaced the glass on an HD2 today. After I got it back together the touch screen was unresponsive and I apparently damaged the LCD in the process. There are now several horizontal lines going across the display. Also, it didn’t fit together really well after reassembly. I’ll try again tomorrow. I would rate this procedure a very difficult.
Gary try this. Remove the battery. Now plug in the AC adapter. With the AC adapter plugged in, slide your battery in. Your phone should turn on. If it does, it means you broke the AP board (which has the power button on it). If it dosn’t, then check all connections. You don’t need the back cover installed in order to turn the phone on BTW. Try it out plz and let me know.
If you click on my logo I have two unpublished guides that include videos and check out the one on the left hand side should help you.
I used Magicmymobile. I just did a search on Google. They can fix anything and specialise in HTC HD2 handsets. magicmymobile.co.uk Ian
I have successfully fixed several HTC HD2 phone digitizers. YES this is a VERY difficult phone to work with and if you do not seat the parts back together, it can give you problems from not turning on to turning on with the charger connected to shorting out on you. However, it is a DOABLE task with extreme care and precision. You have to know where the cables are and how to disassemble it correctly. Else, you will have a phone in pieces which will not work or some parts will break on you. That said,if you need any help with this device, you can email me at and i will do my best to help you through it. We also sell parts for this and many other devices, if you don’t find what you are looking for there, call us at So if you feel confident enough and want to do it yourself, we can supply you with parts at a very reasonable rate and also provide support. please check our website for part availability at Thank you, Fahra
interesting reading, i recently disassembled my HD2 to replace the main flex due to it being broken by the previous owner when he replaced the screen, i took some extra time to reseat the lcd as it appeared the previous repair had no located it properly, once i re-assemble the phone the touch screen stopped working, anybody got any ideas on what could be wrong, i was as gentle as possible?
After I replaced my screen, the glue between screen and lcd has been removed on most parts and that makes phone with holes for dust and so on. Is there any place I could by that sticky tape to put it back on an replaces screen (digitizer)? For me would be good either precut or non-precut tape. Thanks in advance for sharing information.
@Jason C I have a phone that I definitely wouldn’t mind you using as a tutorial! I can provide parts, even a little compensation! I just cracked the digitizer recently and I’m really upset about it. I’ve replaced digitizers before, but the htc hd2 seems a bit out of my league. I’m not sure how to PM, but if you contact me I would really love any help…
I have just had my screen repalced on my HTC HD2. I used MagicMyMobile. They are new company but offered a first class service. You can find them on Google. www.magicmymobile.co.uk Ian

I had the same problem with my HTC HD2 after replacing the touch screen, than I found that the touch screen soldering to the Display was poor and I solder it again now carefully and strong. The problem solved. Hope this helps.
