Chosen Solution
Due to two incidents with liquids (rain and milk), I now have two partially functioning MacBook Pro 13” Touch Bar 2018 units. One boots up and sometimes the screen works, but other times, the machine boots up and the screen doesn’t work. The other machine has a damaged SSD and cannot boot (verified by Apple), but the screen always works and shows the blinking folder with the question mark, indicating it needs a drive to boot from (and no, I’ve been unable to boot the machine from an external drive.) Here’s the question: Can I switch screens to get one fully functional machine? In other words, remove the entire upper half—screen and case—from the non-bootable machine and install it on the machine that still boots? Since there is no guide on iFixit, how would I go about this procedure? Thanks!
Yes you can swap them around to get a good system. We don’t have a 2018 guide but the process is the same in this guide MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017 Screen Replacement You can’t swap the 2016/17 displays with the 2018/19 models or the other way around, so make sure both are 2018 models.
