hello this is my fourth magsafe charger. the first three went from orange light to flashing green light.used a digital multimeter to check if voltage level is correct - 16.8 volts on all including the new one. my question is can the macbook damage the charger? thanks. Update p.s fourth magsafe charger in 6 months.
I would first think about the juice coming out of your wall socket. Do you have voltage fluctuations (is it an older building)? Do you live where brownouts occur? Where are you keeping that transformer (largest part of charger) - is it getting stuck in the couch cushions, or being kept from cooling somehow? Voltage drops are as hard on electronics as voltage spikes… try putting a UPS (battery power stabilizer) in the circuit for this next one.
