Hello everybody! Could anybody please say if it’s possible to upgrade graphix card of the late 2012 21,5 inch iMac? I am currently using the basic 650M, but it does not satisfy the requirements of videogames :) I think I should meet some trouble with installing GPU’s like 800-900-series due to the difference in “sort of” sockets. If somebody could provide a link to some manual or guide, I would be really grateful. Thank you for your thoughts!
Sorry no upgrade possible here. Review the IFIXIT teardown: iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2544 Teardown. Checkout Step 22 there you can see the GPU is soldered to the mail logic board. The iMac line while powerful is not a hardcore gaming system. You will need to upgrade to a more powerful system like the Apple Mac Pro.
It can be upgraded by using an external GPU using Thunderbolt port!
