I am trying to replace my oil pan (bad drain plug threads) and I can not remove the two bolts closest to the transmission. I went and bought a wably #10 socket and it didn’t help either. The socket extensions are blocked by the transmission case. Does anyone have any helpful tips?

Dave Phillips, look at your bolts, I believe that you should see a hex-type hole in the middle of of those. You could use a 5mm Ball-End Allan wrench. Something like like this to remove those two bolts. Also, take a look on here for some good instructions. Hope this helps, good luck.

There are tapered Allen bolt removal tools available that grip into stripped Allen bolts . You have to lightly drive them into place then turn the bolt out using a socket that fits the end. If you can’t find them bolt extractors (left hand twisted type) would work , but they are designed to work with a drilled out bolt. If you choose them you may have to drill into the bolt with a drill about 1 to 1.5 mm smaller than the tap drill size .
