My daughter burned about 40 cds in one session and then the drive just refused to do any more. All it does now is make noises but will not read or write a cd or dvd. Is there a simple fix? Am I into a new superdrive?
Wow!! 40Cd’s in one session is an extraordinary amount of burning. She might have covered the optical drive’s lifetime limit in one session!! LOL . All jokes aside, if you can still see the Optical Drive in the system profiler, then you might have a dead drive. I would try cleaning the drive with a specialized cleaner, that failing, you are gonna need a new super drive.
