Chosen Solution
I have a Toshiba SATELLITE PRO C70-B-14Z http://www.toshiba.co.uk/laptops/satelli… When I bought it one of the selling points was that on the Toshiba website it indicated that the RAM could be upgraded to 16Gb. On the day of purchase i bought an SSD and RAM for the laptop to upgrade it. After taking out all of the screws in the underbelly of the computer it seems that the unit is sealed. I was told by their helpdesk that I needed to post it to their contractor who (if I paid) would upgrade the machine for me. Has anyone a clue of how I could get into this machine to do the upgrade?
I had the same issue, it was like there was another screw, close to where the battery connector was. I watched this video and it looked like the rear cover should just slip off with ease. It was a simple solution in the end, you need to insert a plastic card (or Plastic Opening Tool) at the rear of the unit and coax it with a bit of jimmying.
You will hear a pop/snap when you hit the sweet spot and the case it easily come off. I wanted to replaced the HDD with a SSD.
- Pull out the rubber grommets.
- Lift the two rubber tabs and pull them away from the SATA connector. With the rubber cradle out, remove one of the corners and it will easy to remove the HDD.
Replace and reinsert by pushing the front of the SSD back towards the SATA connector.
