Chosen Solution

I’ve had both and iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 Plus that the battery went bad and would not hold a charge long anymore after many attempts at draining it and resetting the battery. I have used a ZeroLemon 10ft cable on both and another after market care charger with a charging block because my Jeep has and actual plugin. Can these aftermarket cables ruin the battery life? I don’t see how they are just cables. Thank you

If I have to take a guess, my bet would be that the aftermarket car charger is to be blamed for ruining your phones’ syncing and charging ability (by damaging the charging circuit), and the charging block (a power bank, right?) for potentially ruining your batteries.

  • The power banks, if used all the time, will not allow the batteries to discharge. Those batteries like to discharge and recharge; electrons should keep moving. Thus I suspect but have nothing to confirm, that they are bad for your batteries. It is just observation that after using them, many people complained about diminished battery capacity and performance.
  • Car chargers are a big issue if they are not good quality. And even if they are OK, you never want to start your engine while the phone is plugged in. Rather wait for the car to start, then plug the phone into the car charger. And use a good - NO an EXCELLENT quality car charger. I’ve seen too many of those cheap car chargers killing iPhones’ U2 ICs (charging circuit. Google it).

Dan, they cannot just ruin your battery, but even the phone itself. This is a case where I would suggest that you use Apple only parts. To many dock connectors and power management IC’s have been destroyed by aftermarket equipment.

I disagree. The Zero Lemon is certified by apple. I have used mine for 2 years with no problem.
