My son dropped his iPod touch and the screen smashed. (4th Generation, 32 GB). I replaced the digitizer, LCD Screen it turned on but couldn’t slide the unlock key. Reopened it and realized that a chip or ribbon on the upper left hand corner was split. Was wondering how do I go about fixing this ribbon or chip?
Welcome to the community. You state in your description it is an iPod touch 4th Generation, 32GB, I think you selected the wrong pic. You should try disconnecting then reconnecting both of the screen cables. Next, hold down the Home+Power button until it re-starts with the Apple logo and give it a shot. If this doesn’t work, check the connector on the logic board itself to see if any pins are broken. If a pin is broken your probably out of luck. With the right equipment, chips can be replaced, but not all iPod repair shops offer what you call “re-work” (i.e. PCB level repair). After doing the above, re-connect the old screen and see if the touch screen works. If it does, then the new touch screen you bought is probably defective.
