Hi, The attached power adapter is not working. It is for MI Router 4C chinese edition. Can I use alternative adapter (let’s say: a 0.56A netgear power adapter with everything else similar?) thanks. Update (01/03/2021) Hi @jayeff Would this work??
Hi @qomarf , You need to know what the voltage and current output rating of the Mi adapter is before you can connect a different adapter, so that you don’t damage the router by connecting an adapter with the wrong output voltage The image that you have posted clearly shows the AC input voltage and current but the DC output values are hard to make out. I think that it is 5V DC and that the current is 1A but I may be wrong. It is definitely DC as the symbol next to the output shows that it is wired as a +ve centre pin output plug type The specifications for the router do not show what the adapter’s specifications are. Here’s a close up image of your image to show what I mean. Perhaps you can tell what it says.
(click on image to enlarge for better viewing) The replacement adapter needs to have the same Voltage and ≥ current output i.e. 5V DC @ 1A, as the original, if this is what they are. The output current can be more than 1A as the router will only take what it needs at the time, but the output voltage has to be the same as the original adapter’s output voltage. It also needs to have the same size plug connector which needs to be wired so that the +ve supply is on the centre ring of the plug. This is the usual way that most are wired though as -ve centre pin plug adapters are not commonly used. Look at the information that is printed on the replacement adapter. There should be input voltage and current, output voltage and current and polarity of the output.
