I’ve got a HP Pavilion dv7 laptop that has Windows Vista OS. I wanted to find out if I can load Windows 10 onto it. General Google search says Windows 10 needs: 1 GHz or faster processor, Ram: 2 GB (64bit) 16 GB free hard disk space MS DirectX 9 Graphics device with WDDM driver This laptop has: Processor: AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-70 2.00GHz Ram: 4 GB (64bit OS) and once I clear old stuff off would have plenty of hard disk space. It appears to meet the specs (but i’m not a technical person) and the one thing I’m not sure about is the Graphics card. It’s a ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics, which I read elsewhere (another general google search) that it is supposed to work but may not work for Windows 10. If anyone has more specific information I would really appreciate it. This Laptop is in great shape, has a larger screen than my new one, so I would like to keep it. Thanks!
Yes, you can upgrade. It will actually work better than Vista. However, you do have to purchase a license.
Get a legal copy of Windows 7 64bit version. Should be lots around for free or very cheap. Then upgrade to Windows 10 for free from Microsoft website. I’ve got Windows 10 running fine on an old system with an AMD ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card. There are Windows 8 mobility drivers available from AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/…
To check what’s on your computer go to start>control panel, on the top right of you screen your going to change to large icons, then look for the icon called system, there you’ll find everything that is on your computer.
