Hi I have a 2014 mac min with 4gb ram and a 1.4 ghz cpu. I have an opportunity to get the same years logic board with 8gb ram and a faster cpu. Can I just swap it out and put in the new one. Will I have to get a fresh install of mac os? Thanks for any answers. Update (03/24/2020) The logic board I’m looking at is also a late 2014 model.

The OS is on your drive, so you won’t need to re-install the OS. Do make sure you get a 2014 logic board as its the only one that will work in your system. Getting more RAM and a faster CPU is all good! But, As you need to take the system apart you may want to look at adding a second drive if you have a PCIe blade drive Mac mini Late 2014 Hard Drive Replacement & Mac mini A1347 (Mid 2011-Late 2014) Upper SATA Cable

I have late 2014 Mac Mini, 1.4 GHZ-Intel Core i5, Memory-4GB-1600 MHZ-DDR 3, Intel HD 5000-1536 MB, Storage 500GB HD. I replaced the storage with 1TB SSD early 2019. Now is struggling with loading browser, email, etc: Might it be ‘cos older parts are needing replacing too? Tony R.
