I have the MaBook pro 7.1 mid 2010 13'3, and would like to upgrade to 16GB of 1066MHz, is it possible to work on my EFI firmware and how i know the working version, also can i use one 8gb and 2gb together of the same 1066MHz ? My current system specs: Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz Boot ROM Version: MBP71.0039.B0E SMC Version (system): 1.62f7
I do not think 10GB will run… model actually supports 8 GB of RAM running Mac OS X 10.6 “Snow Leopard” and 16 GB of RAM running OS X 10.7.5 “Lion” or higher and the latest EFI update (which should be automagically foiund/installed after the update). The upgrades have been in matched pairs, that is to say they like to have the same vendor and type of RAM - you can’t mix speeds. So you likely will have to upgrade both OS and RAM if you want to use more than 4GB. If this answer is acceptable please remember to return and mark it.
