I had a cheap screwdriver (got a better one now) and have managed to strip the middle tri point screw on the metal thingy covering the display and battery connections. I just cant get it out. I was thinking of bending the metal thingy to disconnect the display. Should I try this or not? What can go wrong if I dont disconnect the battery?
Hey, I managed to replace the screen the way I described in the original post and it WORKS! The battery was fully discharged before the repair. Thanks for suggestions.
you may blow something on the backlight circuit if you dont disconnect the battery, do you have any access to a dremel type tool that you could use to grind off the head of the screw
I would wait till the battery completely discharged and then proceed with the replacement. Bad things will happen if you do not disconnect the battery.
