My iphone X (or Xr i forgot if its an X or Xr) screen was shattered. It only showed a green screen, so I took it to a screen repair shop to fix it. And they fixed the screen great however, they said that they can’t fix the unresponsiveness of the screen. The LED screen will light up and I can see my wallpaper on my lock screen, but the screen is not responsive at all so I can’t type in my password. And I can’t use siri to open my settings to activate voice control or use my face id to open it because after they replaced my screen my iphone now has a message on the screen saying “Your iPhone cannot make and receive calls or access cellular data until it has been updated.” Is this repair shop wrong, can I still get my iPhone fixed with a new digitizer? or maybe they didn’t connect the digitizer correctly? and if I can replace my digitizer will i jeopardizing loosing my photos? I have pictures of my late son on my iPhone that are irreplaceable. If anyone has any ideas, please I would appreciate it more than you know. Someone please help me please. I don’t care for the phone, but those photos mean the world to me. I do not have them backed up.
To be safe I would send the phone to a reputable repairer who specializes in data recovery. They will be able to get the touch working so they can retrieve your data. If you have already tried a screen replacement, another one will do no good and you would expect the screen replacement shop would have made sure the screen wasn’t faulty and the connectors where seated properly.
