Before I consider to buy a new iMac I want to ask if I can replace the Core i5 with a Core i7 CPU?

The CPU is is socketed and is technically possible, but it’s also attached in a fasion that makes it nearly impossible to remove it without damaging the socket or the rest of the logic baord. I’m certain that others will try and tell you that they can replace it, but i don’t recommend it myself. If you want to get a different CPU, the safest way is to purchase the logic board that comes with the other CPU that you had in mind.

Yes you can! I did the swap from stock i3 3.2GHz to i5 3.6GHz in just 20mins. Adhesive on processors head??? Man, you must be joking… Update Socket melted in a mac? Hilarious! Never heard in my 38years of live!
