Hi, I did a Headphone Jack replacement on my macbook pro 15’ retina display mid 2012 laptop and on one of the last steps managed to break off one of the three gold circular heads of the antenna cables that attach to the Airport Board : S . The middle cable no longer has a gold head but the other two are plugged back in properly. I believe it is the Bluetooth antenna because it is no longer working properly (i.e. only detects object that are very very near); Wifi instead is fine. Could i please have confirmation that it is indeed the Bluetooth antenna cable? I doubt I will be able to repair the cable as it looks like it has more than one signal in the wire. Would it be possible to buy a new/used antenna cable on its own?
Yes, you can replace the cable but it’s a big job ;-{ First you’ll need to follow this IFIXIT guide to get the display assembly off of your system: MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2012 Display Assembly Replacement. Then follow this display teardown to Step 5 on how to gain access to the antenna unit: MacBook Pro Retina Display Teardown Lastly, here’s the part you’ll need: MacBook Pro 15" Retina A1398 2012/2013 iSight Webcam WiFi Antenna W/Cable+Hinge Apple doesn’t offer the part so all you’ll find are salvaged units from parts systems.
