The logic boards will both be from the same year, 2011. Can later year Mac mini logic boards (like a late 2012 model) be used with a 2011?

Looks like you will have no problem staying in the same year. Neither iFixit nor PowerBook Medic list the boards as interchangeable between 2011 & 2012. Mac mini Mid 2011 Logic Board Replacement
