The failed start capacitor in my floor-standing bedroom fan is 450V 1uF, but the only over-the-counter replacement I can find locally is 450V 1.2uF. It’s the same model number as the existing capacitor (CBB61), it’s just 0.2uF higher capacitance. I read somewhere that it’s safe to go for a higher capacitance, so it should be fine. Is that correct?
The UF rating on that capacitor is almost the same so it’s fine. If that component was used for timing / clock signals then it would matter to get the same rating. Electronics are very leanient if it’s just to hold power.
