I want to upgrade my older white macbook to make it run smoother and faster
Going from a 2.26 to a 2.4 just isn’t worth the effort or expense. What would be advantageous, is to drop in a Seagate SSHD, maybe a 500 GB or a small SSD drive. Max the RAM out, or just add one 4GBstick and take it 5 or 6 GB (sizes can be mixed). The only way this is worth the expense is if you plan on upgrading your ram. The 2.26ghz model supports up to 8gb of ram but the 2.4ghz model supports up to 16gb. I have had the 2.4ghz for several years and have it upgraded to 16gb of ram. Never a problem.
