Hi. I viewed your teardown video on the Late 2018 MacBook Air with Retina Display. But I really can’t distinguish if there’s thermal paste applied on the CPU or not. Is it possible to apply/re-apply a new and much better thermal paste or there’s no need because there’s none applied in the first place?

Yes! Your MacBook Air does have thermal paste between the CPU and the heat sink. Given your systems age I would hold off for now, maybe next year it would make sense to make the effort. At this point the thermal gain will only be a 1/2 to 1 degree improvement and due to the heat sinks design it wouldn’t cool the CPU by much or for long.

Hi there, anyone know which tools are needed for removing cpu/cover for applaying thermal paste?
