I have a problem with the backlight of my macbook. I can see a faint image on the screen of the laptop and with a cable to an external monitor, it’s working fine. The Apple reseller told me that the logicboard needed replacing (they said that the inverter, the cable and the lightbulb work fine). When I opened the laptop myself, I noticed that one of the components located close to the powerinput has broken (see image) http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/5586/… I could find part of the lid of the component and I know the manufacturer is TDK, but can anyone help me with the partnumber? I really like to know if I can fix it. Kind regards, Marinus

I can’t see where the component is broken. Your symptoms indicate a defective inverter board, not the logic board. An external monitor working confirms this. Check your cable connections to the logic board first and replace the inverter board if needed. Here’s a guide on it: MacBook Core 2 Duo LCD & Inverter A1181 (fast method) Replacement
