I have a 17" Macbook Pro from early 2008, model A1261, with a CCFL 1680x1050 screen. I know that replacing a CCFL panel with a LED one would require also replacing the logic board and the whole display assembly, so the question is whether a hi-res CCFL screen from an older model would fit. I suspect there might be a difference in connectors given that older Macbook pros were shipped with ATI graphics and not NVidia. Is there anyone who has seen both panels and could tell for sure they are (or are not) interchangeable?
No you can’t swap the different type of display backlight units (CFL Vs LED) into the apposing system. The power services are radically different between the different backlight systems (high Vs low voltages).
