Hi, as you can see, one of the USB Charging Ports on my JBL Xtreme has 2 out of 4 pins crooked in there and it’s missing the little plastic thing that hold the other connector in place. Feels sad… Wondering if such a repair is actually possible? Like, can I just buy female USB port and just solder it on the board? If so, then how can I remove the broken one? I will also replace the battery. Mine is effectively dead after 2 years and can’t hold a “full charge” longer than 20min at Max Vol. Impressive… Thanks for your help :)

Hi @fantaz , Here’s a link to the ifixit JBL Xtreme Charging Port Replacement guide, which should be of some help in replacing the USB port. You cannot just purchase any female USB connector as not all female USB connectors are the same as to their mounting lugs’ position on the USB connector body. Their pinouts are the same, (although the pin type may be different, i.e. though hole, SMD etc), just not the lugs which mount them onto a board which has the mount pads or even slots specially positioned for that particular design connector. Search online for a JBL Xtreme USB charge port to get results for suppliers of the correct USB connector. Here’s a link to just one supplier. It is shown only to give you an idea of the cost of the part and for you to see the location of the lugs. You’ll need soldering skills and tools to effect the repair. Here’s a link to the other fixit JBL Xtreme Repair guides which may also help you.
